Hi all,
I have had many conversations over the last year with EH&S personnel at multiple universities about the idea of EH&S departments shifting from the role of being "the compliance police" to working more closely with researchers on sensible approaches to safety in basic academic research. Some changes include the development of an Office of Research Safety and the idea of departments housing a safety professional knowledgable about the type of research in the building (i.e. chemists, molecular biologists, etc) to function as a connection between research departments and safety compliance. I have heard many other great ideas and approaches.
What I am looking for now is publications that have tracked and/or commented on these transitions that I can cite and/or share with researchers. To that end, please share with me your top publications covering these types of issues. I appreciate any help you can provide!
Thank you so much!
