You are a working safety and health professional. Now you need to add those business skills that will help you become a successful manager or consulting business owner.

 

This comprehensive program provides certificate candidates with a thorough understanding of the challenges of integrating workplace safety and health with the business side of the equation. The curriculum includes core requirements and electives that allow participants to design the program best suited to their needs.

 

Though there are no educational requirements to enter the program, some classes require math and/or science knowledge and/or skills. Participants must also have professional level English language proficiency in reading comprehension, vocabulary, written expression and oral presentation. 

 

Candidates must attend all sessions and pass written exams to receive credit towards SCERC Business Sills for Workplace Safety and Health Professionals Certificate.

Accreditation

=B7 ABIH -   Most coursews are eligible for ABIH contact hours. See ABIH website for CM Credit Criteria.

=B7 REHS - Most courses are eligible for REHS contact hours. The SCERC is an Accrediting Agency approved by the California Department of Public Health.

=B7 BRN - Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #13555 (SCERC).  Eligibility for BRN contact hours will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.

=B7 BCSP - 2.4 Most courses are eligible for COC points by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

Faculty 

Certificate Program Director -- MARK KATCHEN, MBA, CIH

 

Managing Principal for The Phylmar Group, Inc. with expertise in industrial hygiene, toxicology, occupational health, risk communication and e-commerce. He received his M.S. in Environmental and Occupational Health from CSUN and MBA from Loyola Marymount University. He has more than 25 years of experience in occupational and environmental exposure assessment in such industries as petrochemical, agriculture, mining, utilities and automotive. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a State of California Registered Environmental Assessor. Mr. Katchen is on the faculty of UC Irvine and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Center for Health Promotion as well as serving on the CSUN Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Advisory Board. He is the American Industrial Hygiene Association's Ambassador to Israel serving as a liaison to EH & S professionals in that country. 

 

Our faculty includes university professors as well as subject-specific professionals with real-world experience.
