Our facilities dept. service these systems although we do the annual
check on fume hood/eyewash/shower performance and let them know if they
need service. Our department is not charged for any service that is
required

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Fume Hood Maintenance & Repair

To all who are in Academic Research-

In this tight economy, universities are finding ways to recoup expenses.

How many of you have a Facilities department that supports & services
fume hoods as part of the general infrastructure of the laboratory?
Meaning, they will service water supply, HVAC, sewer, electricity, etc.
and consider fume hoods part of the ventilation system.

Or-

Do any of you have a system in place where Facilities charges individual
departments for their Time & Materials, specifically for fume hoods?
