For a thorough and probably the ONLY reliable and readily available
source of information on the toxic effects of mercury (as well as a lot
of other substances) refer to your local library.  If it is any good it
will have a copy of the multi-volume work "Patty's Toxicology", 5th
edition, published by Wiley-Interscience.

Read the entry on mercury.  and be informed accurately.
