Subject: Confusing risk message?

Several thoughts regarding the picture:

  1. The students ARE wearing personal protective equipment!!! It was not that long ago that students and professionals were often depicted in photo ops. without adequate ppe and/or without eye protection.
  2. If the mentors sof the students are working to instill a culture of safety, hopefully that culture will stay with the students in other activities.
  3. This may not be a case of overkill with the ppe vs. activity. This may be a case of "cool factor."
  4. If these students contine through their science education with teachers and mentors that value safety, the safety lessons will hopefully contine through and beyond college.
