I am in the process of setting up a specific safety course that will be
required of all of our chemistry lab students. We have a set of guidelines
in place, and go over them with the students, but have not formalized the
training into a course with credit.

Some specifics that I'm considering are

-being able to get data from an MSDS
-safety exits
-chemical handling
-reading our hazard system (we use a system built on the NFPA diamond that
works for our freshmen and sophomores)
-lab protection - goggles. clothing, etc
-lab behavior
-???????

What other topics should/could be covered? Our system of chemical labeling
is basic, but I think it works. If someone needs a system or would like to
pick mine apart - let me know and I'll send you the information.
