Main Job Duties Include:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages business and fiscal functions as assigned. Plans and determines budget allocation. Develops, recommends, and implements business operations policies and procedures. Manages expense accounts and supervises maintenance of fiscal controls. Recommends purchases and expenditures. Reconciles and approves charges, invoices, and payments. Resolves fiscal, accounting, and business-related problems and inquiries. Prepares and processes budget transfers. Submits billing request for instrumentation use. Coordinates and maintains business and fiscal records.

Manages funds allocated for procurement of supplies and services. Maintains fiscal controls and related records. Researches and obtains quotes for supplies and services. Works with vendors to obtain professional service agreements. Assists staff with chemical orders. Assists with delivery of orders. Places supply, instruments, and service orders. Maintains inventory in laboratory supply storage area.

Acts as a liaison between university departments as assigned. Assists in maintaining compliance with the University Occupational Health Exposure Plan. Coordinates department employee safety training with EOHS. Reviews incident/accident reports, consults with instructor/faculty, and assists with corrective action. Participates in lab inspections and assists faculty in maintaining a safe and healthful work environment. Reviews and recommends department chemical handling and storage procedures. Assists in determining appropriate personal protective equipment. Serves on the University Chemical Hygiene Committee. Serves on department Safety Committee and prepares annual report.

Updates information on departmental websites as assigned. Ensures the deionized (DI) water system is functional. Orders replacement tanks. Submits work order requests for lab/building repairs to facilities. Issues lab keys and maintains related information and files. Fills liquid nitrogen dewars. Removes hazardous waste and biohazardous waste. Moves and ensures proper storage of gas cylinders. Runs dry ice maker. Supervises, trains, and informs graduate teaching assistants and undergraduate student employees of department policies and procedures.

Applies compliance and regulatory requirements, safety standards, and management best practices in a manner that works within the framework of the university‰??s learning, research, and working environment.

Creates, implements, and schedules university facilities‰?? audits that meet university needs in an efficient manner.

Achieves and maintains a general knowledge of Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Ohio Department of Health (ODH), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Public Employment Risk Reduction Program (PERRP) regulations.
