Job Hazard Analysis continues to reinforce the potential hazards with a process by examining the process. While SOPs discus dealing with hazards of a chemical category not the overall process that may use chemicals each having a SOP.

I also like using a What-If analysis.

But overall it is taking time to consider what could go wrong and how to mitigate or handle issues. This step back and examination is important even for processes that have been performed multiple times.
