Arsenic was not only used in its inorganic form.  I worked at a facility which produced arsanilic acid and carbarsone, both of which were approved at that time (1970s) as animal medications to promote growth by preventing disease by the FDA.  Eventually the production site was remediated as a Superfund site.  I'm not sure whether there are still FDA approved veterinary medications for some organo-arsenic compounds.

We find it in fancy decorative paints used in old theaters.  It was still used in the 1920s.  And artist's paints used it a lot longer.  Here in NYC in the 1990s, I could tell you who to contact for the pigments if you wanted to buy them.  I assume smart internet users can still get them.
