Please pardon the cross posting:

The two chemical safety workshops in Chicago, IL, July 12/13 are CONFIRMED to be presented.  Registration remains open.  And – I switched site hosting, so the on-line registration is working again!

Here are the workshop descriptions and logistic particulars:

Two chemical safety workshops will be presented at the Fauske and Associates campus in Burr Ridge, IL, July 12/13, 2018.  Registration is now open!  We need a few more before we can confirm the offering.

Effective Chemical Safety Management: A Risk-Based Approach (July 12):  Designed for those responsible for chemical safety in the workplace, this workshop will introduce the Laboratory Standard and the effective Chemical Hygiene Plans.  We will cover introductory toxicology, laboratory chemical hood evaluation, standard operating procedure development in a research environment and waste management fundamentals.  We will have an in-depth discussion of hazard and risk and use a number of risk management tools to evaluate common teaching, research and field work.  The day is wrapped up with a session of “Ask Dr. Safety” so that participants can get their EH&S Questions answered before they leave.

Research Without Rules: Process Safety Management for Research and Small-Scale Chemical Processes (July 13):  This workshop is a follow-on to the Effective Chemical Safety Management Workshop.  With a firm foundational Chemical Hygiene Plan already in place, Research Without Rules expands on reactive chemical safety identification, and risk management foundations found in OSHA’s Process Safety Management Standard and how that looks in a research and small-scale process environment.  We will introduce four risk assessment tools (LabRAT, LabHAZOP, LabFMEA and What-If) to common research, scale-up and pilot-plant operations.  We will thoroughly cover change management and how effective management-of-change can be accomplished in a fast-paced research environment.

Each workshop is priced at $350 for ACS/AIHA/CSHEMA members; $375 for non-members.  Take both for $625 (ACS/AIHA/CSHEMA members); $650 (non-members).  Seating is limited.

Registration is now open at http://midwestchemsafety.com/workshops.php.  You will NOT be billed for the workshops until they are confirmed to be presented so your credit card is not tied up.

Location information:  FAI is located in Burr Ridge, IL, a South-central suburb of Chicago.  It is easily accessible from all interstate highways into the city and Midway Airport.  (O’Hare is a little more convoluted).  There are a number of hotels in the area nearby.

Hope to see you there!

Harry
