Laboratory Stores and Safety Manager, Middlebury College

Manages and operates the Laboratory Stores. Serves as Chemical Hygiene Officer, overseeing numerous safety and compliance functions related to the sciences and studio art. Manages certain academic support facilities in McCardell Bicentennial Hall.

Required Education
Bachelor‰??s degree in chemistry or related field. Minimum 8-hour OSHAcertification in hazardous waste operations. Formal training in laboratory safety that meets the requirements for serving as a Chemical Hygiene Officer. Formal training in EPA RCRA regulations. Formal training in DOT regulations related to preparation of hazardous materials shipments.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be familiar with laboratory safety principles and practices and have a working knowledge of inorganic and organic chemical nomenclature. Must be exceptionally well organized and able to work independently. Must have a customer service orientation and be able to work well with faculty, students, staff, and administrators. Must have good computer skills, including work with spreadsheets and databases.
