Consider adding a chilled water loop for your labs doing reflux (Organic etc). We value-engineered ours out during the planning stage and ended up flooding our wastewater neutralization system (since all lab sinks flow to that system) every day. It's also environmentally unsustainable to run water down the sink through a condenser. We were using hundreds of gallons per hour, for four hr labs, four times a week.

Hi Everyone,

We're in the planning process for a new science building (we're a two-year community college with a strong STEM reputation and a very small informal undergrad research program). Does anyone have any lessons learned or other recommendations as we start working with the architects when it comes to planning out our chemistry labs?

Thanks!
