Just to the folks running the website: I am curious how I failed the fraud detection check? I am happy to provide whatever evidence you need to verify that I am who I say I am. I don't want what I say to be given the impression that it is not worthwhile because some computer program thinks I am a fraud!!

The CSB provided leadership and guidance in helping universities to think about chemical safety in a more enlightened way after the Texas Tech accident. I say that as the Chemistry Department Chair at Texas Tech at the time of that accident, the only one that has been investigated by the CSB. But the results of that single investigation, along with the UCLA incident,  spurred a host of changes in how safety is managed at academic institutions across the country. Their importance should not be underestimated. We need to work to keep the CSB in the budget.

Dear All--

According to this morning's Washington Post, one of the 19 agencies slated for elimination in the President's 2018 budget released yesterday is the Chemical Safety Board.

I certainly urge everyone to contact their representatives in Congress to convey their opinion on the importance of this Board.

Sincerely,

Margaret
