However, depending on the chemicals in use and reactant products, Chemtape(as used by HAZMAT Teams) might be an option to duct tape with the material to be chosen in accordance with manufactures issues such as penetration rates and breakthrough times.

You might also look at whether the cast material is traditional plaster or newer materials. Some of these newer ones might allow reasonable decon of certain very low to mild corrosivity/toxicit chemicalsy, but data are lacking.

Depending on the cast/boot involved, we have allowed leather ballet slippers if they provide adequate coverage of the toes and other parts of the foot are adequately covered by the other parts of the slipper or by the boot itself.
