Another useful place to start (my usual go-to for reactive hazards) is Bretherick's Handbook of Reactive Chemical Hazards, which is quite an expensive set of books (there's two volumes), so you might want to visit your library to read it. Bretherick's is basically an annotated bibliography of literature references on various reactive hazards. My copy of the 7th edition has about 35 pages of notes on nitric acid, including a few references specifically on nitric/acetic acid mixtures. It's not a completely exhaustive source, but it's well-organized so you have a high likelihood of finding relevant literature.

Hi all,
Recently I start working on a project involving nitration with nitric acid, does anyone has an experience with this kind of reaction ? Also we are mixing nitric acid and acetic acid and then adding the compound to be nitrate, how dangerous is the mixing of the two acids I read that they are incompatible ?
