Stefan

1. biomedical labs inspected once per year; Physical science labs (and biomedical labs with class 3b or 4 lasers) twice per year
2 inspection staff:  All our inspectors have other roles.  We have 1 lab safety specialist, 2 industrial hygienists, 4 biosafety officers and 1 CSP who participate in audits.
3  no PI requirement for self inspection.  We encourage a voluntary self inspection as part of the inspection prep process

We have between 800-900 PI's, core facilities and teaching labs.

A few questions asked by our Administration:

1.       What is the frequency of EH&S -led laboratory inspections for those of you in large  academic research institutions?

2.       # of EHS staff whose primary role is inspections?

        3.  Are Individual PI's or Departments required to inspect  their labs?  How often?

Thanks,
