FYI, there's an important article on the "Safety Zone" at C&EN blogs for anyone interested in lab safety in higher ed at:
http://cenblog.org/the-safety-zone/2012/05/dow-and-minnesota-team-up-on-safety/

It describes a new partnership between Dow Chemical and the University of Minnesota's chemistry and chemical engineering departments. "Central to the effort is a Joint Safety Team (JST) made up of the safety officers from every chemistry and chemical engineering research group. "All of those safety officers will be interacting with Dow and working together to learn best safety practices" from the company, saysWilliam B. Tolman, chair of the chemistry department."

Much more information is available in the article.
