Hi Russ,

I followed many of his internet discussions, and I usually learned some new. And if nothing else, I understood that there is always something else to learn in the field of chemical health and safety˜a rephrasing, I suppose, of the „law of unintended consequences.‰

Thank you Neal,
I always enjoyed reading Jay‚s response to inquiry‚s sent out on the DCHAS list server. They were wry and witty and always spot on. The last one I am aware of was back in March. I am really going to miss him (and his responses) and will attend the memorial session in San Diego next March.

Russ,
Thank you so much for representing the Division.
I first meet Jay in 1987. He was a good teacher, a good colleague and a good friend...he will be missed.

Russ:

Please convey to Jay's family my heart felt sympathy in their loss of Jay. Having first met Jay in the late 1980s, he served myself and many others as our mentor in the important area of laboratory safety. It was always possible to talk with him one-on-one and receive the council that was need on a particular issue. He will be missed by many and especially by me. I have lost a friend and a dear colleague in chemical safety.

Jack

Russ, thanks for representing CHAS.

I'll be sending a card, but do give Mary Ann, Jay's wife, my deepest sympathy.
Do tell her that it didn't surprise me that Jay's passing spiked a violent thunder storm.

We'll all miss the unforgettable fellow.

Eileen
