Wendy:

I have nothing specific about smoke tu bes per se.

But once while travelling on business I forgot to send a needed pack of Drager tubes to the site ahead of time.

So I packed them in the bottom of my suitcase.

The Drager tubes must have set off som e alarms because my suitcase on that trip was thoroughly trashed to get to th e tubes.

And the handlers left a little note in side explaining that my case was selected for a “random inspection.”

And once several years earlier I forgo t to send a noise dosimeter ahead of time and packed it in my carry-on briefcase .

That mistake caused me to have to wait under armed-guard while security brought in a specialized team with canine to sniff the case.

I now NEVER travel with any IH equipme nt in either carry-on or checked bags.

I make sure to FedEx everything to the site well ahead of time or I do without.

Subject: [aihaih-list] Trave ling With Irritant Smoke Tubes

Hi all - please forgive the cross-posting -

A question for you:  Has anyone ever traveled with irritant smoke tube s (for
respirator fit-testing) on an airline?  Can you share your experiences?  (I've
been purchasing tubes locally)

Thanks,
Wendy
