There is more useful (and more reliable) and a LOT LESS COSTLY information on how to prepare a really satisfactory chemical hygiene plan available from the ACS chemical safety committee publications.

It's a little 58 page booklet titled "Developing a Chemical Hygiene Plan"

I agree with the suggestion to contact the Laboratory Safety Institute.  I have their Model Chemical Hygiene Plan and used it as a template.  I believe is costs about $100.  It references High School labs also and I think provides a great format that most labs can use.  I have also attended several courses through LSI.  Dr. Kaufman and the employees at LSI have and provide a wealth of chemical safety information.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Chemical Hygiene Plan

Has anyone at a university written a Chemical Hygiene plan recently?

Our Chemistry Department  is rewriting/updating our Chemical Hygiene plan.  Does anyone know of a good place to find information on the latest requirements for a Chemical Hygiene plan for a university?

Does anyone know of a template that can be used?

Thanks,

Mary Baude
