UWSP Chemical Hygiene Officer

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is seeking candidates for  
Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO).

This position is designated to oversee implementation of the UWSP  
chemical hygiene plan for all departments/units that carry out  
laboratory operations. The major responsibility for this position is  
to serve as the UWSP Chemistry Department=92s Chemical Hygiene Officer  

while providing additional services to other campus units with  
laboratory functions. The position will also serve as the chair of the  

UWSP Chemical Hygiene Committee. The goal of the position is continual  

improvement in laboratory safety, environmental performance, loss  
control and overall compliance throughout the institution. The primary  

responsibility includes chemical safety but will also involve  
environmental, biological, radiation, emergency management and other  
laboratory safety and compliance aspects.

Qualified by training and experience to provide expert technical  
guidance and direction in the development and implementation of all  
provisions of an effective laboratory chemical hygiene plan to include  

overall safety, loss control and environmental performance. Knowledge  

of OSHA, WI Department of Commerce, WI DNR/EPA Regulations, NFPA  
Codes, and laboratory specific standards and best practices. Bachelor  

degree in related field required with Masters or PhD preferred.  
Additional certifications or advanced training desired. Minimum one  
year of relevant experience required, preferably at an institution of  

higher education.

Terms of Employment:  This is a twelve-month, 80% academic staff  
position with a probationary towards indefinite appointment. Salary is
