Subject: Adjustable Worksurface Height Fume Hoods

Please excuse the wide cross-postings.

A lab renovation project has purchased adjustable worksurface height fume hoods, manufactured by Labconco, to comply with ADA and to allow occupants to have some flexibility as to the worksurface height.  I 217;ve seen them demonstrated but have no experience with them in the field.< /o:p>

Do I want to allow the users to adjust the worksurface height and allow the duct connection to be flexible (currently not allowed in our design standards)?  OR

Do I want to fix the worksurface height (at 34” or 36”) and allow Plant Ops to adjust the worksurface height on request and make th e duct connection rigid?  OR

Do I want to give the occupants and Plant Ops two worksurface height options and have two pieces of duct connector fabricated for the two heights?

Thoughts?

Thanks for the input,

Debbie
