We work with a phenol/TCE mixture under conditions that require much dexter
ity. The best option we found is to use lunch lady type gloves as the botto
m layer and then nitrile and neoprene type exam gloves over that. So basic
ally triple gloving and changing often.

I have talked to many glove manufacturers and they do not have anything tha
t offers great dexterity and protection especially from chloroform, which w
e often use too. For chloroform they generally recommend a PVA glove, but
those do not come in any size/shape that offers dexterity either.

All -
We use a viton-butyl glove (about 12 mils thick) for handling this
mixture, but some researchers state that they are too bulky for the type
of work they do.

Is anyone aware of a lighter weight alternative? As a point of
reference, exam type gloves are around 4 - 6 mils thick.

Regards,

Larry
