Job Description

This job description provides a summary of the skills, experience and  
background required for a position with Coskata, Inc. (“Coskata” or  
the “Company”).

Title: Environmental, Health & Safety (“EH&S”) Manager.

Summary:
• Coskata is a next-generation ethanol company commercializing a  
compelling process technology for the conversion of biomass, waste  
and coal feedstock’s into ethanol.
• We use gasification to crack the carbon bonds into syngas, bio-  
fermentation (micro-organisms) to convert the syngas into ethanol and  
membrane separation to efficiently separate the ethanol into fuel- 
grade product.
• We have strong intellectual property in the micro-organisms,  
bioreactor design and membrane separation pieces of ethanol  
production and believe we can deliver ethanol at meaningfully reduced  
costs and at large scale.
• Position will report to the Vice President of Engineering.
• EH&S Manager will be responsible for establishment, monitoring and  
management of Coskata’s environmental, health and safety systems and  
programs.

Direct Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the continuous development, implementation,  
administration, and monitoring of all environmental, health and  
safety aspects of Coskata’s operations.
• Lead and drive team of 1-2 direct reports and coordinate activities  
across a multi-functional company team of 25-30.
• Oversee regular auditing of Coskata’s health and safety compliance  
efforts including workplace inspections, bio-hazard reviews, incident  
reporting and other standard EH&S review items.
• Responsible for developing, implementing and managing robust and  
comprehensive industrial hygiene program which will include  
education, employee pre-screening, workplace specific monitoring and  
ongoing employee health assessments.
• Develop and generate a quarterly corporate health and safety report  
card that highlights compliance, general initiatives and overall  
standing.
• Oversee the development and management of an inventory and cost of  
goods plan in conjunction with the overall development program.
• Direct the organization and development of the EH&S function in  
order to ensure its continuous growth and improvement including  
development and management of personnel.
• Cross-train personnel and identify training requirements for high  
potential employees.
• Ensure all occupational health and safety requirements are met  
including overseeing worker occupational exposure risks, ensuring  
proper safety training is completed, conducting regular hazard  
reviews, health and safety pre-start reviews and ensuring proper  
posting of EH&S notices.
• Provide support and assistance to Directors, line Managers and  
other operational and technical staff.

Location:
• Coskata Headquarters (Warrenville, IL; 35 minutes outside of Chicago)

Desired Skills and Experience:
• Bachelors of Science degree with relevant experience or  
Enviromental Studies or other degree coupled with equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of EH&S industrial experience.
• Experience with environmental permitting, waste management, air  
approvals, sustainable development and EH&S legislation / regulations  
is a significant asset.
• Demonstrated success working in multi-disciplinary technical teams  
is a plus.
• Working knowledge and experience running and implementing  
compliance and policy programs and developing industrial hygiene  
processes is important.
