Subject: Benchmarking building code compliance
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory is in the process of reviewing the
mechanisms used to maintain compliance with maximum allowable quantities
of hazardous materials per applicable building and fire codes. We are
particularly interested in talking to research institutions that handle
a diversity of materials including materials synthesized in house. If
your institution fits this description and you are interested in
comparing processes, please contact me by phone (865-574-4945) or by
e-mail (jeskiekb**At_Symbol_Here**ornl.gov). Topics for discussion may include:

*	How does your institution track compliance with codes?
*	If this includes inventory tracking, how frequently are
inventories compared to code limits?
*	Who enforces (regulator and internal) inventory management?
*	How do you classify hazardous materials and keep track of the
classifications?
*	How do you deal with inventories over code limits (what's the
margin of error)?
*	How do you manage 'float' within their inventory system?
