Pat,

The ANSI standard for safety showers requires that they be within a few
seconds of walking (not running) from any location in the lab room.  this
means in most cases that a shower in the hall would not comply with the
standard.

You folks have had enough trouble recently with respect to student
injuries so that I would strongly recommend you put a safety shower IN
each and ever laboratory room.

And the same for eyewashes which the ANSI standard also covers.
