Subject: Chem Safety Position Opening at University of Illinois
Chemical safety Professional / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The Division of Research Safety is seeking a full-time academic
professional to assist with the development and management of chemical
safety programs. As directed, develop written guidelines, plans, and
standard operating procedures for campus safety programs. Provide hazard
assessments and technical assistance to campus personnel; develop and
implement training for chemical safety, laboratory ventilation,
compressed gases, etc; work with campus units to implement use of
chemical safety plans and training; remain current with regulations;
assist with assessment of Chemical Safety Section priorities, goals,
vision, and strategic plans; and participate in an advisory role in the
24-hour emergency response program.

A bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, chemistry, or closely related
field is required. Effective oral and written communication skills, the
ability to work as a member of a health and safety team, and familiarity
with word processing, presentation, and database applications is
essential. Preferred qualifications include experience with chemical
safety program implementation in a university setting, training
development, and ventilation systems (particularly laboratory);
knowledge of relevant NFPA requirements, ANSI standards and OSHA
regulations (pertaining to chemicals); and professional certification,
such as CIH.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Proposed
