Perhaps members of this list should contact the producers - I don't watch those programs, so I have no feel for Frankie's comment, but I would support an email campaign. I suspect it would get results, especially if the emails were copied to the advertisers. nl ------------------------------------------------------------ NEAL LANGERMAN, Ph.D. ADVANCED CHEMICAL SAFETY, Inc. 7563 Convoy Ct, San Diego CA 92111 (858) 874 5577 (858) 874 8239 (FAX) www.chemical-safety.com -----Original Message----- From: DCHAS-L Discussion List [mailto:DCHAS-L**At_Symbol_Here**LIST.UVM.EDU] On Behalf Of Wood-Black, Frankie K Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 4:32 AM To: DCHAS-L**At_Symbol_Here**LIST.UVM.EDU Subject: Re: [DCHAS-L] Look Over Those Lab Photos I congratulate Ken - but my latest pet peeve - watch CSI (any of them) and Medical Investigations - I have yet to see eye protection in the laboratory setting (at the rifle range yes - lab no) and last nights episode of Medical Investigations - not mask one even though they were dealing with a very nasty bacteria. My kids can even pick out the safety violations. -----Original Message----- From: DCHAS-L Discussion List [mailto:DCHAS-L**At_Symbol_Here**list.uvm.edu]On Behalf Of Neal Langerman Sent: Friday, December 03, 2004 7:45 PM To: DCHAS-L**At_Symbol_Here**list.uvm.edu Subject: Look Over Those Lab Photos Ken Fivizzani, the Chair of the ACS Committee on Chemical Safety and past Chair of DivCHAS published an excellent opinion article (C&EN Nov. 29, 2004, page 33) that I strongly recoomend to everyone on this list. The URL is http://pubs.acs.org/isubscribe/journals/cen/82/i48/html/8248acscomment.h tml Ken addresses an issue that has irked many of us and really goes to the perception of a safe work environment - corporate photos showing unsafe acts, such as being in a lab or plant w/o eye protection. Ken once again is showing his excellent leadership - and diplomacy - in publishing this comment. I appreciate this fine effort and hope we all can take his wise words and share them with management at each of our facilities. Thank you - Ken -- Neal -------------------------------------------------------------- NEAL LANGERMAN, Ph.D. Chair, Division of Chemical Health and Safety American Chemical Society ADVANCED CHEMICAL SAFETY, Inc. 7563 Convoy Ct, San Diego CA 92111 (858) 874 5577 (858) 874 8239 (FAX) www.chemical-safety.com
